Academic Forum 2023 – A Milestone in Education Collaboration

As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting CA Sri Lanka’s education initiatives, the CA Sri Lanka Australia Chapter successfully hosted its inaugural Academic Forum on 13 May 2023 at RMIT University, Melbourne. The event brought together experts from leading Australian universities and professional accounting bodies such as CA ANZ and CPA Australia.

Key highlights:

• Keynote address by Mr. Sanjaya Bandara, President of CA Sri Lanka
• Academic presentations from Dr. Luckmika Perera (Swinburne), Dr. Meredith Tharapos (RMIT), and Professor Subash Abhayawansa (Swinburne)
• Industry insights from Mr. Anthony Tayaki (CA ANZ), Dr. Loretta Ross and Ms. Nadee Dissanayake (CPA Australia)
• A special demonstration on gamified pedagogy by Sonja Magnay and Will Moylan from RMIT University
• Followed by a networking session at Oxford Scholars Hotel

The forum served as a platform to strengthen collaboration between CA Sri Lanka and Australian academic institutions. The insights shared are being considered for integration into Curriculum Revision 2025.

The event was organised by the Chapter’s Academic Forum Committee, chaired by Dr. Pavithra Siriwardhane.
